Habitat For Humanity

2017 All Saints Habitat House #24 is Complete!

Thanks to all who were involved in All Saints 24th Habitat for Humanity project. We had the largest volunteer group attend the work day/dedication in the history of the project. It was truly rewarding to see the dedication and expression of love from our parishioners.

Our new homebuyer, Ms. Chika, will never forget who helped her realize her dream of affordable home ownership. For those who had the opportunity to meet Chika I know you could feel the sincere appreciation for our efforts. Deacon Ed Krise officiated the blessing of the home and several members of Atlanta HFH were in attendance including Daryl Hicks, Board Chair. Daryl knows All Saints well having officiated several previous dedications. In Daryl’s words “I love and appreciate all of our sponsor groups, but no one does it like All Saints, your ability to raise the required funding and supply exceptional volunteer support is second to none”

Next year will mark All Saints 25th year of involvement with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. In 1993 a handful of parishioners met in the social hall to discuss building “one” HFH home. Now, 24 years later look what we have accomplished. All Saints has been instrumental in revitalizing failing communities and changing the lives of families for generations to come. God Bless you for all you have done and I look forward to asking for your support in 2018.

Thanks to your continued dedication and support of our Habitat for Humanity project we dedicated our 23rd home on October 23, 2016. It was quite an emotional day for our homebuyer, Tawanna Hardnett and her 10 year old son K’hari. After Tawanna expressed her appreciation to the volunteers K’hari asked to speak and in his own words:

“I always had a dream that I knew was unattainable, and that was to have a home with a back yard I could play in. But then you came along and my dream really did come true. And then you built this house in seven days, wow, that is crazy, Thank You.”

By the time we begin our 24th HFH home this fall, Tawanna will have completed her required service hours, attended and completed her home training courses and made twelve, on time rental payments on her home. Only then will Tawanna qualify to assume a “0%” interest, 30-year mortgage.  You have changed the lives of 23 families by giving them their only chance of home ownership. Your financial contribution and volunteer hours make the dream of home ownership affordable to the working poor of Atlanta.
